Rites for Mrs. Josie Easley this Afternoon At Baptist Church

Mrs. Josie Easley, 83, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hobart Slauughter[sic], La Plata, Tuesday morning at 10:30. She had been seriously ill for the past two months.

She was born Nov. 1, 1870 at Indainapolis[sic], Ind., the daughter of William and Sarah Arnold Allen. On June 23, 1888 she became the bride of Thomas H. Easley in a ceremony performed near Elmer.

Three children were born to the union: John H. Easley of Ft. Madison, Mrs. Hobart (Grace) Slaughter of La Plata, and David F., deceased.

Preceding her in death were her husband on July 6, 1922, and her four brother[sic] and three sisters.

Besides her surviving son and daughter there are nine grandchildren and 11 greatgrandchildren[sic].

She was a member of the Baptist Church of La Plata where funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 with the Rev. Claude Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the La Plata cemetery and pallbearers will be B. G. Slaughter, R. T. Mercer, Cleo McHenry, Von McHenry, Levi Bellmeyer, and Elzie Beall.

Hi! Is Edward Tandy Easley (died 1878, Memphis, TN) an ancestor of yours? He was a physician and the husband of my 3rd great grandaunt, Jane Kennedy of Sumter County, AL.
